Livia Madureira is Assistant professor at the UTAD (University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro), senior researcher at the CETRAD (Centre of Transdisciplinary Development Studies) and currently director of the PhD programme on Development, Societies and Territories. She got her PhD in environmental and land economics, in 2003, with a research that has combined different non-market economic valuation methods to value rural landscape attributes aiming at contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable territorial development by incorporating the public preferences in land use policy design and evaluation. Since then she has been involved in several research projects, has been visitant scholar in various universities, is author and coauthor of several publications. Experienced researcher in non-market valuation methods, large scale surveys and statistical modelling, with several applications to the fields of environmental, agricultural and food economics. In the recent years her research interests comprise the innovation studies in relation to sustainability and decision-making processes, with applications to sustainable farming and food systems and the rural economy innovation dynamics.
