Managers have to face the variability and the volatility characterizing actual competitive contexts. They need to develop the craft of moving to the “right” successful factors for competitive and corporate strategies. Therefore, we ask the following question: “What issues should the management address in searching the right moves?” One of the most relevant and controversial issue in management today is environmental responsibility. Environmental strategies have a growing importance and they are increasingly becoming relevant in both environmentally sensitive and non-sensitive industries. Consequently, we focused on a specific theme of relevant current interest for all executives who are responsible for the strategic direction of their companies: the green management. Green management issues have the potential to inform a wide range of management decisions. We analyzed the many critical actions, firms can develop to embrace green management. Based on this analysis we secondly ask: “How can managers foster the green management adoption?”. Since external growth strategies resulted as one of the most effective ways to cope with green management we analyzed mergers and acquisitions (M&As).
