The paper deals with questions related to the method of Husserl’s phe- nomenology. It is argued that Husserl’s analysis of different kinds of intuitional consciousness (anschauendes Bewusstsein) should be regarded as functional to- wards the elaboration of the method of phenomenology as a science of essences. The paper especially focuses on Husserl’s analyses of phantasy– and picture– consciousness and highlights the specific relevance of such analyses for the phenomenological method.
