Fabio Filicori obtained his degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1974. In the same year he began working at the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informatica e Sistemistica of the University of Bologna, first as a Research Assistant and later as an Associate Professor of Applied Electronics.
In 1990 he became Full Professor of Applied Electronics at the University of Perugia.
In 1991 he was transferrred to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ferrara, where he was Responsible for the Degree Course in Electronic Engineering up to 1995.
At present he is Full Professor of Electronics at the University of Bologna.
During his academic career he has held courses in Electronic circuit design, Applied Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Electronics for Telecommunications and Electronics for Automation. He has been Coordinator of the Doctorate Research Course in Electronics, Computer Science and Telecommunications.
He has been a member of the Scientific Research Committee and of the Programming Committee of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna.
He has been the national coordinator for the Strategic Project "Mathematical Models and Methods for Engineering" of the C.N.R (National Research Council) and national coordinator of the research projects "Modelli di rumore non lineari e progettazione di oscillatori a basso rumore di fase per sistemi di telecomunicazioni ad alte prestazioni" and "Modelli non lineari e metodi di progetto per sistemi radio integrati a basso rumore ed elevata dinamica" financed by the MIUR (Ministry of Education).
He has taken part in the work group of the MIUR for the evaluation of research projects at a national level in the field of electronics. For the MIUR he has also worked as reviewer of various industrial research projects in the field of electronic circuits and systems.
He has been referee of research projects for the USA National Science Foundation.
In October 2007 he became a member of the Work Group "Tecnologie Materiali e Microgravità "; he has also been a member of the Technological Commission of the Italian Space Agency.
He has been a member of the Editorial Board of the journal IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques and is a member of the Technical Program Committee of the EUMIC Symposium in the framework of the European Microwave Week.
He has been work-package leader within the European Network of Excellence TARGET, aimed at the design of power amplifiers for applications in the field of terrestrial and space radio communications.
He has been scientific coordinator of various research projects for the University of Bologna, financed by ESA, ASI and by various industrial research laboratories (e.g. Magneti Marelli, Dassault Electronique, Thales Alenia Space, etc.).
He is the author or co-author of about 200 papers published in journals or international conference proceedings.
His research activities have mainly concerned circuit design techniques for applications in the field of telecommunications and industrial automation, the modelling of electronic devices and systems, instrumentation and measurement techniques for the characterization and performance evaluation of electron devices and circuits.
