Danilo Giulietti got the degree in Physics at Pisa University in 1973 and the PhD at Scuola Normale di Pisa in 1979. Since 1973 he has developed the scientific and teaching activity continually at Physics Department “Enrico Fermi” of the Pisa University, where he is at the present Associated Professor and lecturer of Classical Electrodynamics and Quantum Optics. The research fields in which he has been involved are the atomic and molecular physics, the electron and nuclear magnetic resonance, the thermal radiation, the phase transitions, the laser produced plasmas, the physics of the Inertial Confinement Fusion, the lasers, the holography and the interferometry, the ultra-fast electron optics, the pulsed X-ray sources and their applications, the X-ray spectroscopy, the femtosecond lasers, the laser-matter interaction at relativistic intensities, the particle acceleration in the plasmas. D.G. is author of more than 150 publications in international journals and more than 250 communications in national and internationals congresses, some of them as invited talks. D.G. has been in charge of the management of some scientific international initiatives and the chair of international congresses devoted to the topics of his research activity. He was member of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica della Materia, since his foundation. Due to his activity in the field of particle acceleration in the plasmas, he is associated to the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare. He is the National Representative of the INFN Strategic Project PLASMONX: plasma acceleration and monochromatic, tunable X-ray radiation.He is National Representative for INFN of the European Projects ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) and HiPER (High Power laser Energy Research facility)
