Laureato in fisica a Roma nel 1985 con indirizzo Nucleare e Sanitario, si dedica da sempre alla protezione dalle radiazioni ionizzanti che affronta sia dal punto di vista della ricerca scientifica che in senso applicativo.
Dal 1984 è esperto qualificato in radioprotezione ed ha conseguito il terzo grado di abilitazione nel 1991. In quest’ultima veste è stato ed è responsabile per la sicurezza dalle radiazioni ionizzanti per diversi impianti e laboratori di rilievo nazionale.
Dal 1987 è ricercatore presso l’ENEA – Agenzia nazionale per le nuove tecnologie, l’energia e lo sviluppo economico sostenibile, dove attualmente ricopre l’incarico di responsabile del laboratorio di radioprotezione per impianti sperimentali a fusione nucleare e per acceleratori, presso il Centro ENEA di Frascati.

He is currently the responsible for the radiation protection office at the ENEA Research Center in Frascati (Rome) where he is also in charge for the surveillance of the principal radiological facilities.He is the author of several scientific articles related to the radiation protection at experimental fusion facilities and particle accelerators, also published in books and international scientific journals (more than 80 publications).He has been lecturer and invited lecturer at national and international scientific conferences.He has coordinated several applied research projects related to the radiation protection for the ITER nuclear fusion plant and other relevant facilities. Currently, he is involved in some radiation protection designs related to application of particle accelerators like radio-pharmaceutical production, proton-therapy and boron neutron capture therapy.
