Giuseppe Maino, after classical studies, graduated in physics at the University of Bologna, magna cum laude (June 1977). Therefore, he won a grant to carry out research activities at the ENEA - Italian National Agency for New Technology, Energy and Environment - Centre in Bologna, where he filled a permanent position in 1984 and presently is director of research. From 1990, he headed a research group on nonlinear dynamics and, since 1994 to 2001, has been appointed as assistant (deputy) director of the ENEA Applied Physics Division. Previously, he was awarded by NATO and EPS grants in order to perform scientific researches at the Groningen University in the Netherlands. Since 1986, he has been professor of nuclear physics at the Faculty of engineering of the University of Bologna.
